Penfield Reef, located in Connecticut, was built in 1874 and named after a resident in nearby Fairfield. The tower is
35 feet tall and was automated in 1971. Keepers new and old have always reported strange activity.
On December 22, 1916 Keeper Frederick A. Jordan was leaving in a hurry to get back to his family on the mainland for
the holidays when his boat capsized. His body was recovered shortly thereafter. Jordan's assistant, Keeper Itan, reported
seeing a ghostly figure and the stations log book moved and opened to December 22, 1916, he day of Jordan's death.
To this day Jordan is seen. One yacht was guided to safety by a mysterious figure in a row boat. Once the yacht was safe,
the figure vanished. Another time 2 boys boat capsized and they were pulled to safety by a man. When they tried to thank the
man he was no where to be found.
