Fire Island Lighthouse in New York is now a museum. While I couldn't find much history on this I did find that there
were once two seperate lighthouses, one crumbled to the ground and the second one was built. The original lighthouse is in
ruins near the new lighthouse.
Stories surrounding the lighthouse are that
1) the first keeper hung himself in the tower
and
2) Keeper Nathaniel Smith and his family moved into temporary housing while the second lighthouse was being built. The
poor condition of the house caused his daughter to become sick and she eventually died. It is said that you can hear a man
moaning.
Laughing, knocks, footsteps on the stairs, and a window that doesn't work properly are among the reports.
